Our form of church
government elects group-ruling elders from among the congregation and
places them over the pastoral elders known to us as
Care Group leaders. The elders
are charged with the responsibility of
governing the church’s affairs.
God’s plan is
that all His flock should be led by a pastoral team of elders. Since the establishment of God’s government under Moses – Israel was pastored through a plurality of elders set in ministry by Moses (Exodus 18:1–27;
Numbers 11:1-17). These men were charged with the responsibilities of: handling
minor disputes, sharing the burden of meeting the needs of the people, feeding,
visiting, praying for healing, and integrating people into the fellowship. These
were considered ruling elders. Moses, Joshua, David and Solomon were the
God-appointed leadership of Israel and were considered teaching elders (Exodus
18:20). The ruling elders were under the authority of these teaching elders.
The Holy
Spirit appoints men (Acts 13:1-3). Apostolic teams and elders,
were given the care of the churches. Elders are to be overseers, doing the work
of watching over the people. People have suffered many avoidable problems
because they failed to recognize this. When God’s plan is followed, all is well.
Within these
boundaries of biblical leadership, we have developed a list of beliefs to
provide the foundation for our church’s vision, management, and growth. These
beliefs are seen and heard in every service or ministry in the life of our
church. They are not only what we are committed to; they are the way we live.
Our Beliefs:
¨
You must be born again and filled
with the Holy Spirit to have the life God has planned for you.
¨
You must be planted in a local
church to develop a successful Christian life.
¨
God prospers all His children as
they give tithes, offerings, and work wisely.
¨
We can influence the world through
media, music, publishing, and mission outreach ministries.
¨
We must be committed to educating
young leaders for the future.
¨
We can change our world as we
invite people into our lives, our church, and a relationship with God.
Each of these beliefs have been
developed and incorporated within the context of our church’s constitution,
by-laws, and missions as adopted by the pastoral team. Copies of our
constitution and by-laws are available upon request.
